Israel und die besetzten Gebiete, Belfast, Baghdad, Ceuta, Zypern, die Grenze zwischen den USA und Mexico. Kai Wiedenhöfer hat eine Mission. Er will die Mauern der Welt fotografieren, zeigen was ein Betonwall aus Menschen macht. Mit seiner Panoramakamera geht er dorthin, wo Gummigeschosse, Tränengas und Strassenschlachten zum Alltag gehören. Er trifft auf Migranten, Drogendealer und engagierte Menschenrechtler. Immer wieder aber auch auf bewaffnete Soldaten und aggressive Grenzpolizei. Gegen viele Widerstände versucht er sich seinen Traum zu erfüllen. Kai Wiedenhöfer möchte seine Panoramafotos auf die weltbekannte 'East Side Gallery' in Berlin zu bringen. Jahrelang kämpft er dafür. Im Sommer 2013 kommt es in seiner Wahlheimat zum Showdown. Die Dokumentation „Walls – a Photographer between the Lines“ hat Kai Wiedenhöfer - der einst Zeuge des Berliner Mauerfalls wurde - über neun Jahre lang begleitet.



The photographer Kai Wiedenhöfer works at life's extremes. With his panoramic camera, he is going to places, where rubber bullets, teargas, street battles belong to the daily life of the people. As a young man, Kai Wiedenhöfer witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since then, he has been fascinated by borders, walls and fences. His mission is to find out what concrete barriers do to the people they separate. In 2013, he tried overcoming every resistance and bringing his panorama pictures on the famous "East Side Gallery" in Berlin. The documentary accompanied Kai Wiedenhöfer for nine whole years.

- Demonstrators toppled 8 meters tall concrete wall in Ni'ilin
The protest in Nilin was held today to mark the 20th anniversary to the fall of the Berlin wall, which has been declared an international day of action against Israel's barrier.
The 300 demonstrators managed to topple a part of the eight meters tall concrete wall that cuts through the village's land. The concrete wall in Ni'ilin - five to eight meters (15 to 25 feet) in hight has only recently been laid on the path of the wall cutting through Ni'ilin's lands, in addition to the already existing electronic barrier and razor-wire.
